Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)


CTET: The implementation of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 requires the recruitment of very large number of teachers across the country. To ensure quality requirement for recruitment of teachers it is therefore necessary to ensure that persons recruited as teachers possess the essential aptitude and ability to meet the challenges of teaching at the primary and upper primary level. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in classes I to VIII. One of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools is that he/ she should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE.

CBSE will be conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) only for the candidates belonging to the UTs of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli on 05.05.2012 (Saturday).

In addition to the above CTET was conducted on 5 May 2012 at various centres were it was postponed due to election in Jan 2012.
